Most new businesses aim to be stable after their first year but that wasn’t enough for Simon Havercroft, owner of  Hull based VinylFX.  The first year out performed all expectations and, due to ongoing contracts with national companies, the company needed to expand both it’s premises and the workforce.  Rather than moving to a new site which, would have caused major disruption to the business, Simon decided to remodel his current workshop by adding a mezzanine floor to house the printing equipment thus creating more space on the ground floor for vehicles.

Funding for this project came from a 2nd loan from Start Up Loans which is available to businesses who have already had a loan but have still been trading for less than 2 years (terms and conditions apply).  His workshop on Tower House Business Park, Hedon Road is now set up to increase productivity and future proof the premises so VinylFX can continue to offer fleet vehicle wraps, car enhancements such as light tinting and vinyl graphics to more customers.

“Running a business is not easy for anyone and being your own boss has its perks and downfalls” says Simon “but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  The business is doing really well and I have a great team around me.  Hopefully, will lead to a brighter, better future for my two children”.

Chamber Acorn Fund (Humber) Ltd, based at the Hull Chamber of Commerce, Beverley Road, who support businesses across the Yorkshire and Humber region, worked with Simon on both his applications providing advice, funding options and ongoing mentoring support at no cost to Simon, who added “The support I’ve had has been invaluable – they are always at the end of the phone with advice”.

.Caroline Sturgeon, Investment Manager, comments “Working with Simon at such an crucial time for his business was a great opportunity for us to contribute to a successful future for the venture. Simon has worked very hard to build his customer base but doesn’t rest on his laurels and is always looking for new opportunities – he has great ambitions and I have no doubt this company will continue to be a great success”
